NYE Party– The Perfect Menu

I mentioned that I had a New Year’s Eve party to ring in the new year.  It was FANTASTIC!  We had about 50 of our closest family and friends come over and party like it was 1999.  (Okay, I totally just showed you just how OLD I am…LOL!)  We had a fantastically fun menu, the food was amazing, the ADULT Beverages were flowing, there was live music and a DJ, plenty of dance moves and great company and conversation.  I can honestly say that it was the most fun I’ve had on NYE since having kids!  Here is how it all went down:

First, you should know that I stress out when I entertain.  I love having people over, but I’m always worried that there won’t be enough food, that people won’t like what I’m serving, that the house isn’t clean enough, that no one will show up and that the whole party will be “lame” and no one will ever want to come over again.  I know, sometimes I’m a little melodramatic, but that is exactly how my mind works.  A few years ago, my friend Susan Crabtree of Puerta Bella, referred me to a fantastic caterer, Santa Barbara Catering, and I have not hosted a party without them since!  They take all the stress of having a party away.  They customize the menu for the type of party you are having, the food is phenomenal (they cook it on a truck in your driveway, so the food is hot, fresh and they don’t mess up your kitchen!) and the service is impeccable!  The first time I used them was the first time I actually ENJOYED one of my own parties!  The servers handle everything– they make sure your guests have everything they need, they refill the food, they pick up the plates and cups left behind, and they even take all the garbage and put all of the leftovers in the fridge!  I cannot say enough about this company.  If you are local to Arizona, ask for Lauren Guthrie and I promise it will be the best party you have ever thrown!

For NYE, I wanted a menu that was gourmet but not “stuffy” and had a fun twist on all of your favorites.  So, here is the menu that Lauren and I  put together for New Year’s Eve:

Hand Passed Hors d’oeuvres:

“Potato Skins” Sweet Potato Planks, Crème Fraîche, Chopped Chives, Crispy Pancetta“Grilled Cheese”Mini Grilled Cheese Bites, Maple Bacon & Aioli on Country Baguette

Empanadas 

Chicken & Cheese Wonton Empanadas, Roasted Tomato Salsa

Crostini, Handcrafted Flatbreads, Specialty Crackers, Dates, Dried Fruits, Toasted Almonds

Served with Oven-dried Tomato Dip

 

GOURMET PIZZAS

Olive Oil Brushed Rustic Flatbreads Topped with:

-Pear, Gorgonzola, Walnuts, Mozzarella, Arugula Pesto

-Vine Ripened Tomatoes, Fresh Mozzarella, Basil

-Beer Braised Short Ribs, Point Reyes Blue Cheese

Then came the star of the show– The Mac & Cheese Bar!

Last but not least….DESSERT!  Anyone that knows me, knows I have a HUGE sweet tooth and that the dessert was the most important part of the party for me!  Here is the menu:

In a word, EVERYTHING served was INCREDIBLE!  ”Yum” is definitely an understatement!
